Wat er gebeurt

1. An innkeeper introduces the travelers to an old man, who explains the kingdom’s history, isolation, and religion of thanksgiving.
2. The travelers visit the King, receive a warm welcome, and explore a city without lawsuits or prisons.
3. Candide admires the scientific instruments and recognizes that his birthplace cannot compare with El Dorado.
4. After a month, Candide and Cacambo decide to leave, hoping for wealth abroad and reunion with Miss Cunegonde.
5. The King permits their departure and orders engineers to build a machine that carries them and their loaded sheep over the mountains.
6. Candide proposes traveling toward Cayenne and paying for Miss Cunegonde’s release if she can be ransomed.
