Når den fremsies
Many Sunni Muslims recite this supplication during Witr, a prayer offered at night after Isha and before Fajr. It is especially familiar during Ramadan, when many congregations pray Witr together. The wording, placement and frequency of Qunoot differ among Sunni schools and communities.
Hvor den kommer fra
This supplication is transmitted in hadith from Hasan ibn Ali, who reported that the Prophet Muhammad taught him words to say in Witr. Its opening, “Allahumma-hdini fiman hadayt,” asks Allah for guidance. It is a prophetic supplication, not a passage from the Qur’an.
