1. Thought and extension belong to God, whose understanding and action follow necessarily from his nature rather than arbitrary choice.
2. Each attribute explains its own modes, while ideas and things share a matching causal order.
3. Ideas of existing individuals depend on other individual ideas through an infinite chain of causes.
4. Human beings are modifications of God’s attributes, and the human mind is the idea of its existing body.
5. The mind perceives what happens in its bodily object, and its perceptual capacities correspond to the body’s capacities.
6. Bodies receive motion from other bodies, while compound individuals preserve their nature when their parts maintain the required relations.
