Rune XLVII di 52 · Book II · 9 min per leggere: rune
In Rune XLVII, Louhi steals the sun, moon, and fire, and Ukko creates a flame that escapes its heavenly keeper and falls to earth. Wainamoinen and Ilmarinen seek this fire, learn from Ilmatar that it passes through several fish into a pike, and fail to catch it with their net.
Cosa succede
- Wainamoinen’s music draws down the sun and moon, which Louhi captures before stealing the land’s fire.
- Ukko makes a new flame, but it escapes the maiden tending it and falls through the sky.
- Wainamoinen and Ilmarinen build a boat, follow the Nawa River, and meet Ilmatar.
- Ilmatar describes the flame burning people and land before entering the Alue waters and passing through three fish.
- The heroes weave a net, but neither the maidens nor the brothers catch the fire-bearing pike.
- When fish question whether Wainola’s heroes remain, Wainamoinen declares that their people and fishing skills endure.
