In Chapter 6, Badger, Mole, and Water Rat confine Toad to stop his dangerous driving, but he pretends to be seriously ill and escapes their watch. He steals a motorcar outside an inn, receives a twenty-year sentence for theft, dangerous driving, and insulting the police, and enters a heavily guarded dungeon.
Mi történik?
- Badger brings Mole and Water Rat to Toad Hall, dismisses the new motorcar, and demands that Toad abandon driving.
- Toad rejects his apparent repentance, so his friends lock him upstairs and take turns watching him.
- Toad pretends to need a doctor and lawyer, sends Rat away, and escapes down tied bed sheets.
- At the Red Lion, Toad hears arriving motorists, examines their unattended car, and drives it away.
- The magistrates sentence Toad to twenty years, and officers take him through a hostile crowd into a castle dungeon.
