About this book

What if the life that helps you heal takes you far from the person you love?

Glenn Kilbourne returns from the First World War weakened in body and spirit. In Arizona’s canyon country, he seeks a way to recover and live again. Red cliffs, tall pines and a clear running creek offer something the city cannot. But the place that draws him also tests his engagement.

Carley Burch, his fiancée, belongs to New York society. As Glenn grows stronger, their hopes pull toward different worlds. In The Call of the Canyon, Zane Grey brings an earnest love story into wild country, asking what two people must value if they are to build a life together.

In short

Would you trade silk gowns, fast cars, and a crowd of friends for a log cabin and a hog pen? Carley Burch, a rich young woman in New York just after the First World War, never asks herself that question at first.
