Shrnutí Homer: Chapter 6

Chapter 6 z 26 · Čtení chapter zabere 11 min.

In Chapter 6, Achilles rejects Agamemnon’s gifts and his comrades’ appeals, leaving the Greeks to face Hector without his help. During the night, Diomed and Ulysses capture the Trojan scout Dolon, extract information, kill him, and raid the Thracian camp, returning with horses but little knowledge of Hector’s plans.

Co se stane

  1. Agamemnon proposes retreat, but Diomed objects, and Nestor urges an embassy to repair the insult to Achilles.
  2. Achilles welcomes Ajax, Ulysses, and Phœnix with a meal before hearing their appeals and Agamemnon’s generous offers.
  3. Achilles refuses reconciliation and says he fights only if Hector attacks the Myrmidon ships and tents.
  4. The discouraged chiefs receive the refusal, and a restless Agamemnon gathers another council, which sends Diomed and Ulysses scouting.
  5. The two Greeks capture Dolon, learn the enemy positions, and kill him despite his plea for ransom.
  6. Diomed kills Rhesus and twelve sleeping warriors while Ulysses takes their horses, and both Greeks return safely.
