Shrnutí Homer: Chapter 13

Chapter 13 z 26 · Čtení chapter zabere 18 min.

In Chapter 13, Telemachus visits Nestor and Menelaus, discovers that Minerva guides him, and hears that Ulysses is held captive by Calypso. His search gains hopeful news, but Antinous plans an ambush, while a dream sent by Minerva reassures Penelope about her son’s safety without revealing her husband’s fate.

Co se stane

  1. Nestor welcomes Telemachus at Pylos, recounts the divided fleet’s departure from Troy, and tells of Agamemnon’s murder and Orestes’ revenge.
  2. Minerva reveals her divine nature by flying away as an eagle, and Nestor sends Telemachus toward Sparta with Pisistratus.
  3. Menelaus welcomes the travellers during wedding celebrations, and Helen recognizes Telemachus through his resemblance to Ulysses.
  4. Helen adds a grief-soothing drug to the wine, and the next morning Menelaus reports Ulysses’ captivity using knowledge gained from Proteus.
  5. Telemachus declines Menelaus’s horses because Ithaca lacks suitable ground, while Antinous prepares to intercept him at sea.
  6. Medon tells Penelope about the plot, and Minerva sends a dream that comforts her about Telemachus.
