  4. Jonathan and Lord Godalming pursue by launch, Seward and Morris ride along the bank, and Mina accompanies Van Helsing toward the castle.
  5. The river party hears of a fast boat with extra crew, while the horsemen learn that rapids damage and delay the launch.
  6. Mina and Van Helsing reach Veresti, obtain transport, food, and warm clothing, and prepare to continue toward the Borgo Pass.
