Shrnutí Dhammapada: Chapter 5
Chapter 5 z 26 · Čtení chapter zabere 2 min.
In Chapter 5, the verses describe foolishness through possessiveness, false confidence, harmful deeds, and the desire for authority, while distinguishing real understanding from mere contact with wisdom. They end by separating the pursuit of wealth from the path to Nirvana and urging the Buddha’s disciple to abandon the hunger for honor.
Co se stane
- The verses compare ignorance to a burdensome journey and recommend solitude over foolish company.
- Possessiveness causes distress, while admitting foolishness shows a small measure of wisdom.
- Contact with wise people brings understanding only to someone able to learn.
- Harmful deeds bring regret and grief, even when their consequences take time to appear.
- Severe restrictions on eating do not equal understanding the law.
- The desire for status feeds pride, while the disciple who understands the different paths turns away from honor.
