Andre Norton

1912–2005

Andre Norton (1912-2005) was an American writer of science fiction and fantasy, one of the most beloved and prolific authors in the field and the first woman to be named a Grand Master of Science Fiction. Over a career spanning decades she wrote more than a hundred novels and inspired generations of readers and writers.

Norton is celebrated for adventurous, imaginative science fiction and fantasy, often featuring young heroes, telepathic bonds with animals, and richly built worlds. Many of her novels from the 1950s entered the public domain because their copyrights were never renewed.
