About this book
What does a journey from sin to salvation look like when it becomes a story?
The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan explores that question through allegory. Its subject is a spiritual journey from sin toward salvation. Rather than presenting those ideas only as abstractions, the book gives them the shape of a journey to follow.
In this classic literary work, the journey carries a religious meaning: salvation is its destination, and sin is its starting point. Read it as an invitation to consider those ideas through story, with attention to what the journey itself represents.

From the 15-minute summary · Key idea 1
A burdened man hears a warning and runs
The narrator falls asleep and dreams of a man in rags, bent under a heavy load, with a book in his hands. He reads, weeps and trembles. Then he cries out the question that drives the whole story: what shall I do?
He tells his wife and children that the city will be destroyed by fire from heaven. They do not believe him. They decide he is ill and put him to bed, then mock him when nothing changes. So he walks alone in the fields, reading and praying.
