About this book

What if keeping the peace means walking straight into a quarrel between a mountain dictator and a sorceress queen?

Ozma, the young ruler of Oz, learns that the Flatheads and the Skeezers may soon go to war. She sets out with Dorothy to stop them. Their journey leads through the wild hills of the Quadling country, where keeping people safe matters more than finding treasure.

The Flatheads keep their brains in cans. The Skeezers live in an island city beneath a glass dome. Their rulers, Su-Dic and Queen Coo-ee-oh, mistake fear for respect. As Ozma and Dorothy face this strange conflict, L. Frank Baum brings together playful magic, common sense and the dangers of pride.
