A chi è rivolto
You will enjoy this if you love camping, birds and tracks, if you remember playing outdoors until dark, or if you like tales of friendship with real craft in them.
Che cos’è questo libro
What would you give for one name? Yan, a twelve-year-old in a small Canadian town, presses his nose against a taxidermist's window to read the labels on stuffed birds. One label is turned the wrong way, so one bird stays nameless for years, and it hurts him.
Two Little Savages was written by Ernest Thompson Seton and published in 1903. Seton was a naturalist and artist, and he drew on his own boyhood for this story of two boys who decide to live as Indians. Between the scenes you learn how to lash a teepee, read a track and kindle fire with a bow and a stick.

A boy hungry for names finds a teacher
Yan lives for wild things in a town that has no room for them. His father is poor and stern, and he forbids nature study because he thinks it will spoil schooling. The ban only makes Yan sneak out to the fields.
He has almost no books. His walk to school winds past the taxidermist's shop, where twelve birds carry labels. Yan memorizes them, but the last label is turned away from the glass. He saves ten cents to buy a book on the birds of Canada, and the book proves almost worthless.
Then, one April day, he lies beside a pond trying to see the creature that whistles from the water. A shabby stranger with a Scottish voice shows him it is a tiny frog, the spring peeper. In one morning the man names the flicker, the towhee, the ruffed grouse and many flowers. Yan feels the gift of being understood. He never sees the man again.
A curious child needs someone who answers his questions.
That’s 1 of 10 key points.
