Chapter 20 di 24 · 6 min per leggere: chapter

In Chapter 20, Dorothy and her companions cross a country of living china people, where their size and movements cause accidental damage. After a princess explains that leaving home would make her unable to move, Dorothy abandons her wish to take her away, and the travelers carefully continue south.

Cosa succede

  1. The Tin Woodman builds a ladder, and the travelers climb a wall overlooking a country made of china.
  2. The Scarecrow cushions their landing, and they begin crossing the country toward the south.
  3. Their approach frightens a cow, causing an accident that breaks its leg and chips its milkmaid’s elbow.
  4. A princess explains the dangers of breaking and points out Mr. Joker, whose body bears many repairs.
  5. Dorothy offers to take the princess to Kansas but withdraws when she learns that leaving would stop the princess moving.
  6. The travelers reach another wall, where the Lion accidentally smashes a church, and the Scarecrow appreciates his own sturdy body.
