The Prince, Part 27: riassunto

Part 27 di 28 · 10 min per leggere la parte

In Account of How Duke Valentino Arranged the Murder of Vitellozzo Vitelli Oliverot, Duke Valentino answers a rebellion by rebuilding his forces while negotiating a deceptive peace with its leaders. He draws four commanders to Sinigalia, captures them under cover of friendship, and orders their deaths by strangling.

Cosa succede

  1. The Vitelli and Orsini organize resistance at Magione, while rebellion in Urbino leaves Duke Valentino dangerously exposed.
  2. Florentine support restores the duke’s confidence, and he recruits troops while offering reconciliation to his enemies.
  3. A peace agreement restores his territories and secures the commanders’ service, but he continues preparing a trap.
  4. The duke accepts an invitation to Sinigalia and secretly assigns trusted followers to escort and seize four commanders.
  5. His followers bring the commanders into his quarters, where he captures them; some enemy troops escape, while Oliverotto’s men are disarmed.
  6. The duke suppresses his soldiers’ plundering, has Vitellozzo and Oliverotto strangled, and orders the other two prisoners killed after news from Rome.
