The Canterville Ghost, Chapter 2: riassunto

Chapter 2 di 7 · 5 min per leggere: chapter

In Chapter 2, the returning bloodstain draws the Otis family's interest, and a midnight encounter confirms the ghost's presence without frightening Mr. Otis. After receiving an offer of chain oil and dodging a pillow, the ghost retreats, recalls his past successes in terrifying people, and resolves to take revenge.

Cosa succede

  1. The bloodstain returns on three mornings despite Washington's cleaning and Mr. Otis's locking the library.
  2. After an ordinary evening, Mr. Otis wakes at one o'clock to clanking chains and opens his door to the ghost.
  3. Mr. Otis calmly offers oil for the noisy chains, leaves the bottle, and returns to bed.
  4. The offended ghost throws down the bottle, dodges a pillow from two small figures, and escapes through the paneling.
  5. In a secret chamber, the ghost recalls his terrifying achievements and plans revenge until daylight.
