In Canto 22, Astolfo destroys Atlante’s enchanted palace, allowing Ruggiero and Bradamante to recognize each other and plan marriage after his baptism. Their attempt to rescue a condemned lover brings them to Pinabello’s castle, where Bradamante pursues and kills Pinabello while Ruggiero wins through unwanted magic and throws away his shield.
