Che cos’è questo libro
What would you do if a demon were stealing a child's food at sunset and sucking the strength from his hand? In this ancient text, King Solomon answers with prayer, a ring from an archangel, and a boy brave enough to throw it. That small scene starts one of the strangest building projects in any literature: the raising of the Temple in Jerusalem by demons in chains.
The Testament of Solomon is an anonymous work that speaks in the voice of the king himself. Scholars place its writing between the first and fifth centuries CE. Solomon presents it as a memoir for the children of Israel, so that they may know the demons and the angels who defeat them. You will meet spirits with names, harms and weaknesses, and a king whose wisdom and danger are both real.

A demon steals from a child and a ring arrives
The story begins at the building site of the Temple in Jerusalem. The chief builder has a young son whom Solomon loves. The boy grows thinner every day, even though the king gives him double wages and double food.
Solomon asks him why. The child explains that near sunset an evil demon comes. He takes half the boy's pay and half his food, then seizes his right hand and sucks the thumb. The demon is named Ornias. The king sends no soldiers. He goes into the Temple and prays night and day that the demon be placed in his hands.
The answer comes from above. The archangel Michael brings Solomon a small ring with an engraved stone, sent by the Lord Sabaoth. With it Solomon can imprison every demon on earth and set them to build Jerusalem. The power does not begin with Solomon. It is a gift.
Solomon gives the ring to the boy. He tells him to throw it at the demon's chest, say that King Solomon calls him, and run to the palace without fear. The child does exactly that. Ornias arrives like a burning fire, then cries out in alarm. The boy runs back to report the demon waiting at the palace courtyard gates.
Power in this story is received from God and carried out by those who follow instructions without fear.

Questions about The Testament of Solomon
What is the Testament of Solomon about?
It is Solomon's own account of how an archangel gave him a ring that lets him command demons. He questions the spirits about their names and weaknesses, then puts some to work on the Temple and confines others.
When was the Testament of Solomon written and who wrote it?
The author is unknown. Scholars generally place the work between the first and fifth centuries CE, written in Greek, and many think it contains older traditions. It survives in several manuscript versions that differ in detail.
What is the ring of Solomon in this book?
It is a small ring with an engraved stone, brought by the archangel Michael. Its seal is a Pentalpha. When pressed against a demon, it forces the spirit to obey Solomon and answer his questions.
Why is the Testament of Solomon not in the Bible?
It is a later work, written long after the biblical books, and it was never part of the canon of Jewish or most Christian traditions. It circulated as a separate text valued for its stories about Solomon, its demon lore and its remedies.
Is the Testament of Solomon easy to follow?
Yes, in its pattern. Each scene repeats a simple shape: a demon is brought, names itself, tells its harm and its undoing, and goes to work. Short chapters and a first-person voice keep the story clear.
