Chapter 62 di 503 · 3 min per leggere: chapter

In Chapter 62, King Arthur escapes a night attack with Queen Guenever and three knights, then kills the five enemy kings with his companions near the Humber. Sir Kay earns special praise for killing two kings, and Arthur gathers his scattered forces to destroy the leaderless enemy army.

Cosa succede

  1. Five kings attack Arthur’s camp at night, and a wounded knight urges him to save himself and the queen.
  2. Arthur, Guenever, Kay, Gawaine, and Griflet reach the Humber, but rough water prevents them from crossing together.
  3. Kay challenges the five approaching kings, kills two, and leaves Arthur, Gawaine, and Griflet to kill one each.
  4. Arthur and Guenever praise Kay, then send the queen across the river in a barge.
  5. Arthur gathers his surviving people in the forest and waits for daylight as the enemy discovers its kings are dead.
  6. Arthur’s small force destroys the grief-stricken enemy army; he thanks God, and Guenever returns to celebrate.
