Kalevala, Rune I: riassunto
Rune I di 52 · 7 min per leggere: rune
In Rune I, Ilmatar leaves the heavens for the sea, where she becomes pregnant, shelters a nesting duck, and shapes the land after broken eggs form the earth and sky. Her son Wainamoinen breaks free from confinement, swims for years, and finally stands on a bare coast beneath the heavenly lights.
Cosa succede
- The lonely Daughter of Ether descends into the sea, becomes pregnant amid a storm, and endures centuries of labor.
- She begs Ukko for help, and a duck arrives seeking somewhere to nest.
- The duck nests on her knee, but burning heat makes her move, dropping the eggs into the sea.
- The broken eggs form the earth, heavens, and heavenly lights; the water-mother then shapes islands, shores, and ocean depths.
- Still unborn, Wainamoinen asks the heavenly lights for release, receives no help, and forces his own way out.
- He spends years in the ocean before reaching a bare promontory and standing upright to observe the sky.
