Chapter 1 di 27 · 23 min per leggere: chapter

In Chapter 1, Jonathan Harker travels toward Count Dracula’s castle on business, despite an innkeeper’s warning and the fearful gestures of local people. His journey becomes frightening when a powerful carriage driver repeatedly stops near blue flames and drives back surrounding wolves, before bringing him into a ruined castle’s courtyard.

Cosa succede

  1. Jonathan Harker records his railway journey east, his meals, and his research into Transylvania before reaching Bistritz.
  2. Count Dracula’s letter arranges his onward journey, but his hosts refuse to discuss the Count or his castle.
  3. The landlady begs Harker to delay his departure for religious reasons and gives him a crucifix when he insists on going.
  4. Coach passengers give Harker protective gifts and blessings as their driver races toward the Borgo Pass.
  5. A strange driver collects Harker, follows a repeated route near midnight, and stops several times beside blue flames.
  6. Wolves surround the carriage, retreat at the driver’s command, and disappear before Harker reaches the castle courtyard.
