Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Part 2: riassunto

Part 2 di 10 · 12 min per leggere: part

In Search for Mr. Hyde, Mr. Utterson examines Henry Jekyll’s unusual will, questions Dr. Lanyon, and watches a door until he meets Edward Hyde. Hyde’s disturbing appearance and his authority over Jekyll’s servants deepen Utterson’s fear that his friend faces coercion or danger, so he resolves to help if Jekyll permits it.

Cosa succede

  1. Utterson reads Jekyll’s will, which gives Hyde his property upon death or an unexplained absence exceeding three months.
  2. Dr. Lanyon describes his scientific disagreement with Jekyll but says he knows nothing of Hyde.
  3. Troubled by imagined scenes of Hyde’s cruelty and power, Utterson repeatedly watches the side entrance.
  4. Utterson meets Hyde, studies his face, and receives his Soho address before Hyde angrily retreats indoors.
  5. At Jekyll’s house, Poole confirms that Hyde possesses a key and that the servants must obey him.
  6. Utterson suspects an old disgrace gives Hyde power over Jekyll and fears that Hyde might seek his inheritance.
