Ivanhoe – Chapter 8 összefoglaló

Chapter 8 / 44 · 17 perc a(z) chapter elolvasására

In Chapter 8, Prince John agrees that the tournament victor should choose its queen, while the established challengers defeat successive opponents until the Disinherited Knight arrives. The stranger unhorses Brian de Bois-Guilbert, defeats the remaining four challengers, and wins the day's honors, turning the crowd's frustration into cheers and provoking the Templar's anger.

Mi történik?

  1. John proposes Rebecca as queen, but opposition leads him to accept De Bracy's plan that the victor choose.
  2. The rules distinguish blunt-lance contests from sharp-weapon combat, and the five challengers dominate the opening encounters.
  3. Cedric urges Athelstane to defend England's honor, but Athelstane prefers to enter the next day's general combat.
  4. The Disinherited Knight arrives and strikes Bois-Guilbert's shield with his lance point, demanding a dangerous encounter.
  5. After an even first charge, the stranger unhorses Bois-Guilbert; the marshals prevent them from continuing with swords.
  6. The stranger defeats the other four challengers and receives the day's honors from the Prince and marshals.
