Ivanhoe – Chapter 11 összefoglaló

Chapter 11 / 44 · 12 perc a(z) chapter elolvasására

In Chapter 11, masked robbers seize Gurth and his master's money, but their Captain spares the Disinherited Knight's gold because he sees the knight as an ally against shared enemies. Gurth defeats the Miller with a quarterstaff, returns safely to the tent, and tells his master everything despite the robbers' demand for secrecy.

Mi történik?

  1. Four men seize Gurth in a dark lane and bring him to a clearing where two more masked robbers join them.
  2. Gurth explains whose money he carries, refuses to identify his master, and describes the payment to Isaac and the returned gold.
  3. While the Captain examines the purse, Gurth breaks free and strikes him, but the robbers capture Gurth again.
  4. The Captain exempts the knight's money from robbery and offers Gurth freedom if he defeats the Miller.
  5. Gurth stays calm, knocks the Miller down, and receives guides who escort him near the tournament grounds.
  6. Gurth reports everything to his master, who resolves not to benefit from Rebecca's generosity, and both settle to sleep.

Mire figyelj

The Captain treats shared enemies and dispossession as reasons for solidarity. This reasoning turns the encounter away from theft toward Gurth's chance to earn release.
