Cleopatra – Chapter 15 összefoglaló

Chapter 15 / 34 · Book 2: The Fall of Harmachis · 11 perc a(z) chapter elolvasására

In Chapter 15, Harmachis wakes beside Paulus’s corpse and learns that Cleopatra knows his plot, holds his secret papers, and controls his freedom. She offers him love and political influence, then threatens his father and fellow conspirators until he accepts a kiss, binding his hopes and shame to her power.

Mi történik?

  1. Harmachis discovers Paulus’s corpse with his own dagger through its heart and a message warning him about betrayal.
  2. He finds his secret lists missing, fears for the conspirators, and faints.
  3. Cleopatra arrives, orders the corpse removed, and reveals that Paulus exposes Harmachis’s intended attack.
  4. She returns his dagger and challenges him to kill her, then invokes divine judgment to discourage suicide.
  5. Cleopatra promises shared rule and mercy, but makes the conspirators’ safety depend on Harmachis accepting her love.
  6. Harmachis yields to a kiss, while his narration exposes political calculation behind Cleopatra’s mercy and condemns his own excuses.
