Mitä tapahtuu

  1. A heavily armored Crusader crosses the barren country near the Dead Sea, reflecting on its destruction.
  2. His campaigning brings fame but drains his money, and his remaining squire is too sick to accompany him.
  3. As he approaches palms and water at noon, a Saracen rider advances, and both prepare for combat.
  4. The Crusader knocks his opponent down with a thrown mace, but the Saracen quickly remounts and attacks with arrows.
  5. The Crusader feigns a fall and grabs his enemy, who escapes by abandoning his sword belt and its attached weapons.
  6. The Saracen proposes peace; both swear loyalty and ride together toward the water.
