Fathers and Sons, Chapter 13 yhteenveto

Mitä tapahtuu

1. Sitnikov introduces Bazarov and Arkady to Kukshin in a cluttered room filled with papers, magazines, and cigarette ends.
2. Kukshin talks rapidly about chemistry, education, writers, her estate, and plans to travel abroad.
3. Over lunch and champagne, Kukshin criticizes women’s education and mentions Madame Odintsov, prompting Bazarov’s interest.
4. Arguments about women’s rights and intellectual authority give way to more drinking, piano playing, and singing.
5. Arkady protests, Bazarov leaves with him, and Sitnikov follows, only to face a mocking question about his father’s business.
