Agnes Grey – Chapter 13-tiivistelmä

Chapter 13 / 25 · chapter lukemiseen 11 min

In Chapter 13, Miss Grey falls behind her pupils after church, and Mr. Weston gathers primroses for her before sharing his experience of loss and his purpose in helping others. Their conversation deepens her sympathy and attachment, while the girls’ teasing gives way to a private prayer and the careful preservation of his flowers.

Mitä tapahtuu

  1. Miss Grey describes being ignored by her pupils’ companions during walks home from church.
  2. On a March afternoon, she falls behind the party and finds primroses growing beyond her reach.
  3. Mr. Weston gathers the flowers and walks beside her, discussing home, grief, endurance, and useful work.
  4. After he leaves, Miss Grey reflects sympathetically on his mother’s death and imagines his happiness in a home.
  5. Rosalie and Matilda tease her about Mr. Weston, then return to discussing the officers.
  6. Miss Grey prays privately for an unnamed wish and preserves the primroses, pressing some petals in her Bible.
