From the 15-minute summary · Key idea 1

A lost-world tale in Haggard's style

Haggard wrote at a time when European readers were hungry for stories about regions their maps still showed as blank. Explorers, missionaries and traders were returning with reports, and novelists turned those reports into romance. The People of the Mist sits firmly in that line. It promises a long road, a strange land at the end of it, and a people no outsider has met.
