About this book

He sets out to recover a fortune—and finds a hidden people whose secrets put more than wealth at stake.

In The People of the Mist, H. Rider Haggard sends a ruined young Englishman into Africa in search of wealth. His prospects have collapsed, but the quest opens a world beyond his plans: a hidden community, an old faith, and danger waiting for a stranger.

This lost-world adventure follows the pull of fortune into a kingdom shut away from the wider world.
