About this book
What if the wish to rise meets a world determined to keep you in your place?
In That Which Hath Wings: A Novel of the Day, Richard Dehan explores love, liberty and the wish to move beyond limits. Birth, habit and society frame the central questions: how much room does a person have to choose, and what does freedom ask of them?
Published in 1918, this novel belongs to a world of changing manners, new ideas about freedom and firm expectations of duty. Dehan, the pen name of Clotilde Graves, brings these concerns together in fiction whose fuller, more formal style invites you to slow down and enter its time.
