Über dieses Buch
What happens when a schoolboy must choose between winning, fitting in, and doing what is right?
In Parkhurst Boys, and Other Stories of School Life, Talbot Baines Reed takes you into classrooms, playing fields and dormitories. This collection follows boys through pranks, quarrels and rivalries in a Victorian school world. Each school has its own rules, heroes and punishments, and every boy must find his place.
Mischief brings the fun, but honour gives these tales their backbone. Boys play tricks, break bounds and face tests of nerve. The question is not simply who wins, but who chooses well when nobody forces him to. Reed keeps the action moving in brisk, clear prose, giving each boy a distinct manner.

Aus der 15-Minuten-Zusammenfassung · Kerngedanke 1
A first match and a paper chase teach nerve
Adams has waited six years at Parkhurst to join the first fifteen. One Friday Wright, the captain, tells him he will play against Craven.
Adams is a spectator for most of the afternoon, until he flings himself at the famous Slider and somehow stops him. In the last minutes Wright passes him the ball, and he charges at the Craven fullback while his own forwards sweep him over the line.
