Enter Cleopatra, Charmian, Iras and Mardian.

Cleopatra, Charmian, Iras and Mardian enter.

Cleopatra

Help me, my women! O, he is more madThan Telamon for his shield; the boar of ThessalyWas never so embossed.

Help me, my women! Oh, he's more crazed than Telamon over his shield. Even the boar of Thessaly never foamed at the mouth like this.

Charmian

To th’ monument! There lock yourself and send him word you are dead. The soul and body rive not more in partingThan greatness going off.

Go to the tomb! Lock yourself inside and send him word that you're dead. The soul and body don't tear apart more painfully at death than a great man does when his greatness leaves him.

Cleopatra

To th’ monument!Mardian, go tell him I have slain myself.Say that the last I spoke was “Antony”,And word it, prithee, piteously. Hence, Mardian,And bring me how he takes my death.—To th’ monument!

To the tomb! Mardian, go tell him I've killed myself. Say that my last word was “Antony,” and please make it sound heartbreaking. Go, Mardian, and bring me word of how he takes my death. To the tomb!

Exeunt.

They leave.

Spørgsmål om denne scene

Is the modern version the whole text?

Yes. Every speech of the play is here in plain modern English, in the same order, beside Shakespeare's own words.
