About this book
What if the force that lights the world also holds the key to a weary soul?
In Marie Corelli’s A Romance of Two Worlds, a young creative woman cannot sleep or find joy in her art. Doctors offer no relief. Then she meets Heliobas, a calm, learned man who claims that electricity and spiritual life share a hidden force. His teaching opens a different path through her exhaustion and sadness.
Heliobas calls this force the electric principle: a power that, according to his teaching, runs through the universe and every human being. As the narrator explores his ideas, questions of prayer, pain, and life after death take on new urgency. Her search reaches beyond the earth in a vision guided by the radiant Azul.

From the 15-minute summary · Key idea 1
A sleepless musician meets a calming painter
The story is told by a young musician, half Italian, who falls ill from overwork one winter in the 1880s. Her doctor in London, Dr. R, has one treatment for every patient, and it fails her. He sends her to Cannes with her American friends, Colonel Everard and his lively wife Amy.
At the Hotel de L, she meets Raffaello Cellini, a young Italian painter whose colors amaze Paris and Rome. When he passes her in the garden with a single kind look, her nervous agitation melts away. His studio becomes a place of rest for her, and she often gazes at his large canvas, Lords of Our Life and Death, which shows a sorrowing Angel of Death above a globe and a glowing face of Life beyond.
