À propos de ce livre
A hunter loses his way in the Highlands and enters a world where love and loyalty pull toward war.
Walter Scott’s The Lady of the Lake is a narrative poem of adventure and love. A stag hunt draws Fitz-James into the hills around Loch Katrine, where he meets Ellen Douglas rowing across the water. Her father, James Douglas, lives in exile, out of favor with King James V. The stranger steps into a household shadowed by conflict.
Ellen faces competing claims of love, gratitude, and family duty. Malcolm Graeme has her trust, while Roderick Dhu, chief of Clan Alpine, wants her for himself and prepares to resist the crown. Across six cantos, rhyming verse and songs carry the story through woods, lochs, and mountain passes, where personal honor meets the demands of a divided country.

En bref
A stag bursts from the heather, a hunter chases it until his horse drops dead, and a girl glides toward him in a boat. That is how The Lady of the Lake begins, and within six days it becomes a story of feud, love and a gathering war.

A stag leads a hunter into the Trosachs
The poem opens in Glenartney, where a stag wakes in his hazel lair and hears the bloodhounds far off. He leaps up and runs, and the whole hunt thunders after him through the hills.
The stag climbs toward Uam-Var and swims the river Teith twice. Horses give out one by one, and riders drop behind. By the Brigg of Turk, the leading horseman rides alone. The stag dodges into the Trosachs, a tangle of rock and thicket, and vanishes. The hunter's gray horse stumbles in the rough glen and falls, never to rise.
