About this book
What might a day feel like when waking, eating, working and resting each have a place in prayer?
Orthodox Daily Prayers gathers devotional texts from the Eastern Orthodox Church, shared across Greek, Slavic and other Orthodox traditions for centuries. It has no single author. Some prayers are traditionally linked to saints and Church fathers; many are anonymous. Together, they offer a daily rule: a pattern of prayer for the ordinary hours of life.
Morning and evening prayers frame the day, alongside words of thanks and repentance and prayers for family, the sick and the departed. The collection also introduces the Trisagion, a threefold praise of God as holy. These are texts to return to slowly, aloud or silently, rather than a story to finish or an argument to follow.

In short
What does a believer say between waking and sleeping? Orthodox Daily Prayers, a collection by no single author, answers with a full day of worship.
From the 15-minute summary · Key idea 1
The day begins with body and mind
The book opens with instructions, not only words. On waking, the believer rises without delay, gathers the thoughts, and makes the Sign of the Cross. Then come a few moments of silence until the senses are calm.
After that come three prostrations, each with the short Jesus Prayer, asking mercy on a sinner. Only then do the Morning Prayers start. They open with a call to the Holy Spirit, the thrice-holy hymn, the Our Father, and Lord, have mercy said twelve times.
