In Hebrews

Hebrews identifies Melchizedek as the king of Salem and as a priest of God Most High. The text describes him accepting a tenth from Abraham and blessing Abraham, who has received God's promises. It also describes Levi as paying a tenth through Abraham, because Levi is still in his ancestor when Melchizedek meets him.

Hebrews contrasts a priest like Melchizedek with the priests from Levi's family and with Aaron. The text connects this other priest's position not with a human rule, but with the power of a life that never ends.

In Genesis

Genesis presents Melchizedek as a king whose city is Salem and whose priesthood belongs to the Most High God. The action described in this passage is his bringing out both bread and wine.

In Mysteries of Heaven and Earth

Mysteries of Heaven and Earth describes Melchizedek's altar as made from a sacred stone consecrated by angels. The text says the angels place this altar at the center of the earth. It also places the head of the dragon where the altar of Melchizedek stands.
