In 1 Enoch

In 1 Enoch, Azâzêl teaches people how to make swords, knives, shields, and armor, and how to work metals. The text describes his teaching as evil and says he reveals secrets that humans are never supposed to know.

The Lord tells Raphael to capture Azâzêl, bind him, and throw him into the darkness. The text blames his teaching for the ruin of the whole earth and places the blame for sin on him. Enoch tells Azâzêl that he will never have peace, and another passage announces judgment upon him and his followers.

In Apocalypse of Abraham

In Apocalypse of Abraham, Azazel is told to go into the untrodden parts of the earth. The same passage describes his heritage as extending over those who are with him. Abraham says that Azazel insults him before he is led up, and asks that fury not rage against him.

Another passage describes people on the right side of the picture as set apart from the people with Azazel.
