About Philip K. Dick

Philip K. Dick (1928-1982) was an American science-fiction writer, one of the most original and influential the genre has ever produced. His mind-bending explorations of reality, identity, and what it means to be human have inspired countless films — including Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report — and reshaped modern science fiction. Dick's celebrated novels, such as Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and The Man in the High Castle, remain under copyright. But he began his career writing short stories for 1950s science-fiction magazines. They already display the themes that would define him — paranoia, shifting realities, and questions about what is truly real — and several anticipate ideas he later expanded into famous novels. His prose is direct and gripping.
