Beyond their big old house, four sisters find a schoolroom full of new friends, rivals, and small tests of character.
Ruth, Agnes, Tess and Dot Kenway are orphaned sisters learning to make a life together. In The Corner House Girls at School, their world opens beyond the home. Teachers need pleasing, lessons need learning, and playmates need choosing. Each sister brings her own nature to the classroom, where small mistakes can become lessons in growing up.
Ruth carries her household duties with patience, while lively Agnes has a gift for getting into scrapes. Curious Tess meets the world with wonder, and little Dot brings questions, plans and humor. Grace Brooks Hill follows them with a gentle voice, exploring friendship, responsibility and the expectations placed on girls in the early twentieth century.

Kurz gesagt
What happens when a goat with a noble beard arrives at a house full of girls a week before school? In The Corner House Girls at School, the answer is trouble, laughter, and a friendship that changes a boy's life.
Aus der 15-Minuten-Zusammenfassung · Kerngedanke 1
A mischievous gift arrives at the Corner House
The book opens with a gift that nobody trusts. Sam Pinkney, a boy known for causing trouble, ties his old goat Billy Bumps beside the woodshed and solemnly hands him to little Tess. The four sisters call a family meeting on the spot.
Dot explains the likely motive. Billy Bumps butted the new minister straight through a cellar window, and the poor man landed headfirst in the winter's coal. Then the goat camped outside the front door and held him prisoner until Sam came home from school. The sisters laugh until they are doubled over.
