About this book
Hidden gold draws three brothers to sea, but can they hold together when rivals close in?
In Edward Stratemeyer's The Rover Boys on Treasure Isle, Dick, Tom and Sam Rover set out on a long voyage toward buried treasure. Dick leads with a steady head. Tom brings jokes and nerve. Sam shares the risks as the brothers pursue the promise of island gold.
They are not alone in wanting the prize. Scheming rivals care little how they get it, and the hunt puts the brothers under pressure. Beneath the chase lies a test of trust: each crisis asks whether these young adventurers will stand by one another when danger presses in.

Three Brothers Come Home to a Mystery
The story opens at the end of the school term. Dick, Tom and Sam Rover board a train home from Putnam Hall Military Academy. They have graduated with honors, but they are sad to leave so many friends behind. Their father has written that he has something important to tell them about the summer.
On the train we meet their friends. Songbird Powell makes up silly poems. Hans Mueller speaks a comic broken English. Fred Garrison is steady and cheerful. The talk turns to Tad Sobber, a bully who ran away from the school after sending a poisonous snake in a box. He is the nephew of the swindler Sid Merrick. Songbird adds that Tad has sent Captain Putnam a note blaming the cadets and saying he will get even someday.

What is The Rover Boys on Treasure Isle about?
Three brothers join their father on a steam yacht voyage to the West Indies. They hunt for a lost fortune hidden on a horseshoe-shaped island while the swindler Sid Merrick races them in a rival ship.
Do I need to read the earlier Rover Boys books first?
No. The author reminds readers of the brothers' earlier adventures and the main villains early on, so the story stands on its own. Earlier volumes only add a little background about Putnam Hall.
Who are Songbird and Hans in the Rover Boys series?
They are the brothers' schoolmates and friends. Songbird Powell makes up cheerful rhymes about everything, and Hans Mueller speaks comic broken English. Both join the treasure voyage and help in a key moment.
