Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Chapter 25 summary

Chapter 25 of 45 · Volume 2 · 8 min to read the chapter

In Chapter 25, Miss Ophelia despairs over Topsy’s misconduct, but Eva’s declaration of love moves the child to tears and a promise to try being good. Watching them, St. Clare and Miss Ophelia recognize that teaching and material care cannot overcome the harm of personal prejudice without genuine affection.
