The Gospel of Judas, Chapter 5 summary

Chapter 5 of 6 · 5 min to read the chapter

In Chapter 5, Jesus describes heavenly creation, the rulers of Chaos and Hades, and the making of Adam and Eve before answering Judas about limited life and human spirits. He predicts service to Saklas, rule by Judas’s star over a thirteenth realm, and the destruction of six erring stars, five warriors, and their creations.

What happens

  1. Jesus describes an invisible Spirit, the emergence of the Self-Begotten, and the creation of luminous realms with countless serving angels.
  2. He describes Adamas, Seth’s incorruptible generation, and numbered ranks of luminaries, heavens, and firmaments.
  3. Nebro and Saklas produce angels; rulers receive heavenly portions, and Saklas and his angels fashion Adam and Eve with limited lifespans.
  4. Judas asks about life and spirit; Jesus describes spirits given through Michael and Gabriel, and knowledge protecting Adam from rulers.
  5. Jesus predicts wrongdoing in his name, service to Saklas, and rule by Judas’s star over the thirteenth realm.
  6. Jesus laughs and predicts destruction for six erring stars, five warriors, and their creations; Judas asks about people baptized in Jesus’s name.
