The Call of the Wild, Chapter 2 summary

What happens

1. Curly dies under a pack of huskies, teaching Buck to stay on his feet and making him hate Spitz.
2. François trains Buck in harness, while Dave and Spitz correct his mistakes and new dogs join the team.
3. After Sol-leks wounds him and the men reject him from their tent, Buck learns from Billee to sleep beneath snow.
4. Buck joins the nine-dog team, learns between Dave and Sol-leks, and crosses difficult terrain to Lake Bennett.
5. Repeated hard journeys and constant hunger teach Buck to eat quickly and steal food, leaving Dub punished for his theft.
6. Buck develops strength, sharper senses, survival skills, and inherited habits of wild dogs.
