Chapter 460 of 503 · 3 min to read the chapter

In Chapter 460, Sir Launcelot secretly enters Dame Guenever’s chamber by wrenching out the window bars, cutting his hand and leaving blood behind. Sir Meliagrance takes the blood as evidence against the queen and her wounded knights, threatens a treason charge, and welcomes the chance to hide his own treachery.

What happens

  1. The queen keeps the wounded knights in the passage beside her chamber so she can oversee their care.
  2. Launcelot refuses Lavaine’s offer of company and carries a ladder through the garden to the queen’s window.
  3. With the queen’s consent, Launcelot tears out the bars, wounds his hand, and enters her chamber.
  4. Launcelot leaves, repairs the window as well as he can, and has Lavaine dress and conceal his injury.
  5. Meliagrance discovers blood and accuses the queen of betraying Arthur with one of the wounded knights.
  6. The knights deny the accusation and offer combat after recovery; Launcelot enters during the dispute.
