Bambi, Part V: Zusammenfassung

Part V von 30 · Lesezeit für part: 13 Min.

In V, Bambi imagines success for herself and Jarvis Jocelyn, then leads him through a day of sightseeing that brings them closer as companions. Their pleasure gives way to distress when a poor neighborhood and a disturbing play expose suffering that challenges her delight in the city.

Was geschieht

  1. Bambi watches the city awaken and imagines Jarvis succeeding as a playwright while she secretly establishes herself as a writer.
  2. At breakfast, she proposes a holiday and argues that an artist must not dismiss any part of human experience.
  3. Their bus ride and lunch encourage playful companionship, while Jarvis shows jealousy when a stranger repeatedly toasts Bambi.
  4. A crowded, dirty neighborhood sickens Bambi, while Jarvis values its struggles as material for teaching and social reform.
  5. They attend Damaged Goods, which leaves Bambi sobbing while Jarvis judges its message more effective than its drama.
  6. Jarvis comforts her during the ride back, and she describes herself as painfully battered by the day.
