Chapter 28 af 59 · 10 min. til at læse chapter

In Chapter 28, Pip returns to his hometown by coach, avoids staying with Joe, and overhears two convicts discussing the money sent to him for helping a prisoner. Their conversation revives his childhood terror, while a newspaper at the Blue Boar presents Pumblechook as the source of his success.

Hvad sker der?

  1. Pip invents excuses for choosing the Blue Boar over Joe’s home and decides against taking the Avenger.
  2. Herbert sees Pip off, and Pip recognizes one of two convict passengers as the man from the Three Jolly Bargemen.
  3. Pip overhears that the prisoner he helped sends him two pounds through the convict now sitting behind him.
  4. Afraid that someone might reveal his identity, Pip leaves the coach upon reaching town and walks to the hotel.
  5. At the Blue Boar, Pip refuses contact with Pumblechook and reads a newspaper claiming Pumblechook establishes his fortune.
