About this book
What if your honeymoon takes you beyond Earth, with the whole solar system waiting outside?
In A Honeymoon in Space, a newly married couple leave Earth in a vessel of their own. Their wedding trip becomes a tour of the worlds around the Sun. George Chetwynd Griffith joins romance and adventure as the travellers exchange familiar sights for strange skies, carrying their new marriage far from home.
The journey tests more than their courage. In close quarters, beyond familiar rules, the couple face one trial after another. Along the way, Griffith blends travel writing with astronomy lessons and a Victorian dream of invention. The Moon and planets reveal how people around 1900 imagine other worlds, while the adventure explores science’s promise and its possible misuse.

In short
What if the first spaceship arrived on your wedding day? In 1900 an English earl brings a gleaming metal vessel down beside an Atlantic liner, and a romance and a war scare both come aboard.
From the 15-minute summary · Key idea 1
A black speck crosses the rising sun
The story opens on the Atlantic on the morning of November 5, 1900. Officers on the bridge of the liner St. Louis watch a dark shape cross the face of the sun, again and again, and grow larger by the minute.
Passengers crowd the deck as a metal vessel sweeps down from the sky. A fair-haired man greets Captain Hawkins from a sliding door. He is Rollo Aubrey, Earl of Redgrave, and the ship is the Astronef.
