Che cos’è questo libro
The Rover Boys on Treasure Isle is a boys' adventure novel by Edward Stratemeyer, the thirteenth book in his Rover Boys series. It follows Dick, Tom and Sam Rover, three brothers who have just graduated from Putnam Hall Military Academy and head home for the summer, expecting a quiet rest.
Instead they find a mystery waiting. Their father has vanished on a secret errand, thieves are prowling the family farm, and an old enemy named Sid Merrick is somehow behind it all. What the book gives you is a quick, cheerful chase story. It has a hunt for hidden gold in the West Indies, a rival ship, practical jokes, and plenty of narrow escapes.
The author wrote for young readers of his own time, and it shows in the lively pace and the clear line between friends and villains. Along the way you meet a poet who rhymes everything, a German friend who mangles English, and a sailor who tells wild tall tales. The story begins on a crowded train platform, with three brothers heading home and wondering what their father has planned for the summer.

Three Brothers Come Home to a Mystery
The story opens at the end of the school term. Dick, Tom and Sam Rover board a train home from Putnam Hall Military Academy. They have graduated with honors, but they are sad to leave so many friends behind. Their father has written that he has something important to tell them about the summer.
On the train we meet their friends. Songbird Powell makes up silly poems. Hans Mueller speaks a comic broken English. Fred Garrison is steady and cheerful. The talk turns to Tad Sobber, a bully who ran away from the school after sending a poisonous snake in a box. He is the nephew of the swindler Sid Merrick. Songbird adds that Tad has sent Captain Putnam a note blaming the cadets and saying he will get even someday.
When the brothers reach Oak Run, their Uncle Randolph meets them with troubling news. Their father never came home. Nobody has seen him since the closing exercises, and the last train arrived at one in the morning to an empty station.
A telegram solves part of the puzzle. Anderson Rover is following a man he very much wants to catch, and the trip planned for the summer depends on it. The boys are relieved but more curious than ever. Uncle Randolph adds that the trip is a sea voyage and a secret, something to do with gold.
Back at Valley Brook Farm, the family greets them warmly. The hired men complain about chicken thieves, and Dick decides to look into it.
The opening sets the tone of the book. A real puzzle sits under a good deal of fun. The boys are quick, loyal and always ready to act.
The early chapters also show how the author treats readers of the series. He pauses to remind us of earlier adventures, so a new reader can step in without any trouble.
By the end of these first chapters, two threads are running side by side. One is the missing father and his secret. The other is the trouble at the farm.
That’s 1 of 8 key points.

Questions about I ragazzi Rover sull’Isola del Tesoro
What is The Rover Boys on Treasure Isle about?
Three brothers join their father on a steam yacht voyage to the West Indies. They hunt for a lost fortune hidden on a horseshoe-shaped island while the swindler Sid Merrick races them in a rival ship.
Do I need to read the earlier Rover Boys books first?
No. The author reminds readers of the brothers' earlier adventures and the main villains early on, so the story stands on its own. Earlier volumes only add a little background about Putnam Hall.
Who are Songbird and Hans in the Rover Boys series?
They are the brothers' schoolmates and friends. Songbird Powell makes up cheerful rhymes about everything, and Hans Mueller speaks comic broken English. Both join the treasure voyage and help in a key moment.
Is Treasure Isle a real place?
No. The island is invented for the story. It is a horseshoe-shaped coral island in the West Indies, set among the Bahamas region that Edward Stratemeyer uses for his tale of hidden gold.
Is The Rover Boys on Treasure Isle easy to read?
Yes, in the sense that it moves quickly. Short chapters, plenty of dialogue, clear villains and frequent jokes make it easy to follow, and each chapter ends with a hint of the next adventure.
